LEBANON, Ill. – The Webster University men's and women's track and field team was back in action yesterday when they traveled to Lebanon, Illinois, to compete in the Bearcat Classic hosted by McKendree (Ill.) University. The men's side finished seventh out of 13 teams after finishing with a team score of 39 while the women's side finished eighth out of 14 teams after finishing with a team score of 20. Washington (Mo.) University took first place in both men's and women's.
Elijah Perez led the way for the men's side as he finished with a team high 18 of the teams 39 points. He took first place out of 35 runners in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.13 to earn 10 points for the team. He also took second place out of 38 runners in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.84 to capture eight points. Jadis Smith finished with six points after finishing third in the triple jump with a distance of 13.08 meters.
Sam Baker added five points after finishing in fourth in the 5,000-meter with a time of 16:34.34.
Kaelin Triggs finished with four points after finishing in seventh in the 800-meter with a time of 2:01.36. In addition, the 4x100 meter relay team of
Steven Aubuchon, Jadis Smith,
Armond Williams, and
Elijah Perez took sixth with a time of 44.54 seconds to capture four points. The full men's results are as follows:
Danielle Schultz led the way for the women's side as she finished with 10 of the teams 20 points. She finished seventh in the 800-meter with a time of 2:20.86 to capture six points and then added four points after finishing in 13
th in the 1500-meter with a time of 5:00.73.
Vanessa Jones finished with five points after finishing fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.13 seconds.
Michelle Grant added four points for the team after finishing fifth in the 5,000-meter with a time of 21:50.19. Lastly,
Isabelle Llewellyn finished with one point after taking eighth in the discus throw with a distance of 30.58 meters. The full women's results are as follows:
The Gorloks are back in action on Friday, April 15
th when they travel to Warrensburg, Missouri, to compete in the Mule Relays at the University of Central Missouri. The meet is set to start at 1 p.m.
