Nieroda Earns Gold In 3000m Run, Seven Gorloks Set New PR’s In Outdoor Opener

FAYETTE, Mo. - The Webster University men's track & field team opened the 2026 outdoor season by competing in the Central Methodist University Open. Seven Gorloks set a new personal record at this meet. WU's Ethan Nieroda earned the gold medal in the 3000m run.

In the 3000m run, Nieroda set a new outdoor personal record and secured the gold medal with a time of 9:19.66. In addition to Nieroda, Simon Muthemba had a great race and crossed the finish line with a time of 9:46.79 that earned fifth place. Johnny Imboden also recorded a top-10 finish as he recorded a time of 10:15.81 that earned ninth place. WU's Jacob Hawkins rounded out the field for Webster with a time of 12:01.42.

In the Shot Put event, Jahrel Claude-Ennin recorded a mark of 11.71m which was on his first attempt and earned ninth place. In the Hammer throw, Claude-Ennin earned a mark of 27.75m which was on his second attempt.

In the Long Jump, Robin Wong earned eighth overall with a mark of 6.48m which was on his final attempt. Thomas Ogata recorded a mark of 5.60m which was on his first attempt

In the Pole Vault, Mark Govero earned a tie for fourth with a clearance of 4.80m.

In the High Jump, Nkunim Kouame earned second overall with a clearance of 1.86m. Ogata finished third overall with a clearance height of 1.86m.

In the Triple Jump, Wong secured a fourth place finish with a mark of 12.48m which was on his first and third attempts.

In the Javelin event, Austin Merritt recorded a mark of 33.28m which was on his first attempt.

In the 100m dash, Dylan Patterson achieved a new outdoor personal record with a time of 10.62 seconds that earned third overall. Merritt also competed in the event and recorded a time of 10.88 seconds that earned sixth place. Mason Oldani set a new personal record with a time of 11.78 seconds while Juan Gomez rounded out the field for Webster with a time of 12.86 seconds.

In 110m hurdles, Lucas LaRue recorded a time of 16.17 seconds.

In the 200m dash, Patterson earned fourth overall with a time of 21.76 seconds. Kaiden Richardson set a new personal record with a time of 22.78 seconds. Nic Richardson set a new personal record with a time of 23.77 seconds while Kauame crossed the finish line with a time of 23.95 seconds. Gomez rounded out the field for Webster with a time of 26.84 seconds.

In the 400m dash, Kaiden Richardson set a new collegiate personal record with a time of 49.97 seconds that earned fourth overall. Junior sprinter Nic Richardson also competed in this event and crossed the finish line with a time of 51.76 that earned seventh overall. In addition, Gabe Feaman set a new personal record in this event with a time of 55.71 seconds that earned 10th overall.

In the 400m hurdles, LaRue set a new personal record with a time of 59.79 seconds that earned sixth place.

In the 1500m run, Brayden Halter paced the Gorloks with a time of 4:16.90 that earned fifth overall. Imboden crossed the finish line with a time of 4:32.55 while Tyler Mooney recorded a time of 4:45.98.
