Four Gorloks Set Final Indoor Marks At NCAA Final Qualifier In Iowa

WAVERLY, Iowa. - Four student-athletes of the Webster University men's track & field team made their final indoor marks of the season by competing in the NCAA Final Qualifier at Wartburg College. 

Senior heptathlon athlete Austin Merritt closed out his indoor season by completing seven of the eight events. In the 60m dash, he earned first place with a time of 7.09 seconds which earned 851 points. In the 60m hurdles event, Merritt placed fifth overall with a time of 9.42 seconds that earned 656 points. In the 1000m event, he did not have a final mark.

In the Long Jump, he recorded a mark of 6.01m that earned third place and 589 points. In the shot put, he placed third overall with a mark of 12.19m that earned 618 points.

In the High Jump event, Merritt recorded a clearance of 1.78m that earned second place and 610 points. In the Pole Vault, he recorded a mark of 3.65m that placed fourth overall and 522 points.

For the meet, Merritt earned a total of 3,846 points.

In the 60m dash, Dylan Patterson recorded a time of 6.88 seconds that finished third in the prelims and secured a spot in the finals. In the finals, Patterson set a new collegiate-best with a time of 6.82 seconds. With that time, Patterson ranks 30th in the nation.

In the pole vault, Mark Govero tied for fourth overall with a clearance of 4.73m.  

In the high jump, Nkunim Kouame placed seventh overall with a clearance 1.88m.
