TUNICA, Miss. – The Webster University golf team wrapped up play this afternoon at the Rhodes Fall Invitational at Tunica National Golf Club in Tunica, Mississippi. The Gorloks finished in ninth place out of 19 teams after shooting a three-round score of 898 (301-293-304, +34).
Jan Antonin Wdowka and
Justin McCoy led the way for Webster as they both finished in a tie for 12
th out of 100 golfers after both shooting a 220 (+4) for the tournament. Wdowka shot a 72 in the first round and a 71 in the second round before shooting a 77 in the final round. McCoy, who was second on the leaderboard after shooing back-to-back 70's in the first two rounds, shot an 80 in the final round of the tournament.
Austen Velazquez,
Trent Garrett, and
Cody Surma rounded out the competitors for Webster. Velzaquez finished tied for 68
th after finishing with a three-round score of 234 (76-85-73, +18). Garrett finished in a tie for 78
th after shooting a 237 (84-79-74, +21). Surma rounded out the scoring for Webster as he finished in a tie for 85
th after shooing a 240 (83-73-84, +24).
Justin McCoy and
Austen Velazquez led the Gorloks with 31 pars each while
Jan Antonin Wdowka led the team with 14 birdies.
Piedmont (Ga.) University won the event as they finished with a team score of 861 (288-291-282, -3). Fred Roberts IV (74-71-66, -5) and Josh Hebrink (67-71-73, -5), both from Piedmont, tied as the individual champions after shooting scores of 211.
The Gorloks return to the course on Sunday, September 25
th and Monday, September 26
th when they travel to Kansasville, Wisconsin, to compete in the Midwest Region Fall Classic at Brighton Dale Golf Links.
