Men’s Tennis Secure Dominant Victory Over Westminster In Fall Finale

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Webster University men's tennis team closed out the fall portion of the schedule with a dominant 7-0 victory over Westminster College on Saturday. With the victory, the Gorloks secured their second win of the fall.

The Gorloks got off to a fantastic 3-0 start to the day by being the victors in all doubles competitions. The duo of Carson Fisher and Ethan Foucheaux played in the No. 1 doubles match and blanked Cooper Pennington and John Stannard by the final score of 6-0.

In the No. 2 match, WU's Tyler Gonzales and Eli Bartek only allowed their opponents David Murillo-Martinez and Ryan Pemberton two set victories and won the match by the final score of 6-2.

The final doubles match of the day featured the team of Andrew McDonald and Jack Forlenza as they did not allow a set and eliminated Sam Reimer and Robert Lewis by the final score of 6-0.

In singles play, the Gorloks stayed focused and won all six singles matches. In the No. 1 match, Foucheaux battled Pennington very closely and captured the victory by the final scores of 6-4 and 7-5.

Texas native in Fisher dominated the No. 2 singles match and eliminated Murillo-Martinez in straight sets by the final scores of 6-0, 6-0.

First-year member of the team in Bartek played in the No. 3 match and only allowed one set victory and won the match by the final scores of 6-1 and 6-0.

The next singles match featured WU's Forlenza and WC's Pemberton as Forlenza handled business and blanked Pemberton in straight sets.

First-year student-athlete Shawn Smith captured his single match victory by defeating Robert Lewis by identical scores of 6-1 and 6-1.

In the final singles match of the day, Robert McDaniel blanked his opponent Sam Reimer in both sets by the final scores of 6-0 and 6-0.

The Gorloks will use the remainder of the fall semester to prepare for the spring season.
