LITCHFIELD, Ill. - The Webster University women's cross country team competed in their biggest race of the season at the 2024 SLIAC XC Championships at Litchfield Country Club on Saturday. WU's Madison Cox earned a top-25 overall finish as the Gorloks captured a sixth place team finish.

Leading the way for the Gorloks was first-year Cox as she achieved a new personal-record with a time of 27:51.03. With that finishing time, Cox shattered her previous personal-record by one minute and 22 seconds that secured 25th overall.

Less than two minutes later, first-year Brie Inman crossed the finish line with a new 6k personal-record with a time of 29:46.56. With that time, Inman achieved her second straight personal-record of the season.

The next Webster student-athlete that achieved a new personal-record was senior Abigail Szydlowski with a time of 31:22.64. With this finishing time, Szydlowski broke her previous time by one minute and 17 seconds as he recorded her fifth personal-record of the season.

First-year member of the team Emily Horowitz conquered a new personal-record in the 6k action with a time of 34:38.58. With that finishing time, Horowitz broke her previous personal-record time by five minutes and 24 seconds.

Rounding out the competitors for Webster was Symphony Schodroski as she recorded her second-fastest 6k race ever and achieved a new season-best by two minutes and 50 seconds.

"The girl's all ran a tough race today. Madison and Emily both ran well in their second ever 6k and earned big PR's to reward their effort. Brie and Abby both stepped up in a big way today to run huge PR's. Symphony ran her best race of the season today. We will get back to work for a couple weeks and do our best to close out the season strong at the Regional Championships" said Head Coach Kyle Robinson

Following the race, Szydlowski was named Webster's representative on the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship team.

The Gorloks will travel to Rock Island, Illinois on Saturday, November 16 to compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships at Saukie Golf Course.
