ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University men's tennis team was back in action over the weekend when they competed in the UMAC South Division Championships at Dwight Davis Tennis Center. The Gorloks took on the Greenville (Ill.) University Panthers and fell by a final score of 5-0.
The Gorloks had a tough time getting anything going to start the match as they dropped all three points in doubles.
Matthew Birchmeier and
Carson Fisher fell to Andres Sanchez and Rafael Rodriguez in #1 doubles by a final score of 8-3.
Ethan Foucheaux and
Tyler Gonzales dropped #2 doubles to Luke Matsinger and Clark Kent by a final score of 8-3. Lastly,
Jack Forlenza and
Robert McDaniel dropped #3 doubles to Thibaut Tignee and Jean Riggaud Sanabria by a final score of 8-1.
The Panthers carried their momentum over into singles and captured two points to solidify the win.
Carson Fisher dropped #3 singles by final scores of 6-4 and 6-4 while
Robert McDaniel dropped #4 singles by final scores of 6-1 and 6-2.
With the loss, the Gorloks season ends with an 8-12 overall record. The team will return to the courts in the fall.
