CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Webster University men's track and field team was back in action on Saturday when they traveled to Carbondale, Illinois, to compete in the Bill Cornell Invite at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. There were not any team scores for the meet.
Mark Govero led the way for Webster as he finished in first place in the pole vault. He cleared the bar at a new school, and personal, record height of 4.50 meters.
Mason Oldani and
Austin Merritt had top three finishes in the high jump. Oldani took second with a height of 1.70 meters while Merritt took third with a height of 1.65 meters.
Joshua Clark,
Dylan Patterson, and
Landon Garland also recorded top five finishes in their respective events. Clark and Patterson both recorded top five finishes in the 400-meter run as Clark took fourth with a time of 51.29 seconds while Patterson took fifth with a time of 52.35 seconds. Garland finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 3.90 meters.
In addition to Govero, four other Gorloks set new personal records.
Nic Richardson set two new personal records in the meet including in the 100-meter run where he finished with a time of 11.97 seconds and the 200-meter where he finished with a time of 23.97 seconds.
Mason Oldani also recorded a new personal record in the 200-meter run as he finished with a time of 24.33 seconds. Lastly,
Ethan Nieroda and
Johnny Imboden both recorded personal records in the 5K as Nieroda finished with a time of 16:14 while Imboden recorded a time of 18:00.

The Gorloks will return to the track on Saturday, April 13
th when they travel to Edwardsville, Illinois, to compete in the Cougar Classic at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
