Hill Places Fourth Overall; Imboden and Holifield Record Season-Bests At Trojan Invitational

HANNIBAL, Mo. - The Webster University women's cross country team competed in their fourth race of the season by participating in the 5k Trojan Invitational hosted by Hannibal-LaGrange. First-year Violet Hill earned fourth overall while Lydia Imboden and Averie Holifield recorded new season-bests. As a team, the Gorloks placed fourth overall with a score of 83.

Out of the field of 38 competitors, Hill led the way for the Gorloks with a time of 21:18.1 that earned fourth overall which included an average mile time of 6:51.3. With this finish, it marks her second top-10 finish of the season.

Sophomore runner Brie Inman was the second Gorlok that crossed the finish line as she recorded a time of 25:03.7 for an average mile time of 8:03.9. With this time, she placed 20th overall.

Just over a minute later, Imboden crossed the finish line with a time of 26:14.0. With that time, she recorded a new season-best by 28 seconds.

Holifield recorded a season-best race with a time of 32:26.0 which beat her previous personal record time by 46 seconds.

Newly-added runner JeRiya Thomas made her collegiate debut and rounded out the team score with a time of 34:05.7.

"I'm proud of how hard the team worked today. We still have work to do, but they raced hard on a very challenging course. I am excited to see how much time we continue to drop as we head closer to postseason" said Head Coach Kyle Robinson.

The Gorloks will compete in their fifth race of the season on Saturday, October 18 by competing in the Interregional Invitational hosted by Augustana College (IL) starting at 1:15PM at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois.
