Nelson Named SLIAC Player of the Week In Men's Basketball

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has released the names of the student-athletes who were named Player of the Week for the sports of men's and women's basketball and wrestling. WU's Charles Nelson was named the SLIAC Player of the Week in men's basketball following two performances of at least 18 points, the Most Valuable Player at the Webster Tip-Off Classic, and has lead the Gorloks to an undefeated 4-0 overall record. 

Last week, the Gorloks earned two double-digit victories over Concordia University of Wisconsin and the University of the Ozarks where Nelson led the team in scoring in both games.  

In the decision against CUW, Nelson recorded 18 points which included a pair of three-point baskets. In addition, he dished out five assists, swiped two steals, and secured one rebound. 

In the matchup against the University of the Ozarks, Nelson recorded 22 points that included a team-high four three-pointers. In addition, he secured six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. 

Between the two games, he averaged 20 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and two steals per game. In addition, he shot 16-of-28 (57.1%) from the field, 6-of-12 (50.0%) from behind the arc, and a perfect two-of-two from the free-throw line. 

With this selection, it marks his first of the season and his third of his career.
