Gorloks Pole Vaulters Moved Up Three Spots To #19 In National Rankings

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Webster University men's track and field pole vaulters moved up three spots to #19 in this week's national rankings as announced by the USTFCCCA. With this selection, it marks the highest ranking in program history for that event. 

To be selected for national rankings, a team must have at least four competitors in the event and the selection committee takes the average score among all four student-athletes which decides the rankings. 

Leading the way for the Gorloks is sophomore Mark Govero with a collegiate-best clearance of 4.78m (15'8.25"). With that clearance, he ranks seventh in the Midwest Region and 26th in the country.

First-year Elijah Bohler currently ranks second on the team with a recorded a new collegiate-best mark of 4.26m (13'11.75") at Indiana State University that currently ranks 21st in the Midwest Region. 

WU's Austin Merritt and Landon Garland currently rank in a tie for third on the team with clearances of 4.00m (13'1.5") that currenly rank in tie for 35th in the Midwest Region. 

With the combination of all four clearances, the Gorloks are averaging 4.26m (13'11.75") which secured a tie for 19th in the nation with St. John Fisher.  

The Gorloks will have a week of preparation before traveling to Principia College to compete in SLIAC Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 1 in Elsah, Illinois.
