Patterson Sets New 100m Dash School Record; Govero and Halter Win Gold Medals; Gorloks Finished Second Place At 2026 SLIAC Outdoor Championships

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Webster University men's track and field team competed in the two-day 2026 SLIAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Greenville University. As a team, the Gorloks earned second place with 138.00 points. 12 Gorloks set at least one new personal record at this two-day championship.  

WU's Dylan Patterson became the new all-time 100m dash record holder with a time of 10.42 seconds. In addition, Austin Merritt also shattered the previous school record and currently ranks second all-time with a time of 10.50 seconds. 

Brayden Halter won two gold medals and set two new personal records; the 800m event with a time of 1:58.22 and the 1500m with a time of 4:09.05. He was named the 2026 SLIAC Freshman of the Year. 

Junior Pole Vaulter Mark Govero secured the gold medal in the event with a clearing height of 4.80m. Sophomore Elijah Bohler finished second place in the Pole Vault with a clearance of 3.90m. Ved Patel set a new personal record with a clearing height of 3.30m. 

In the Javelin event, Jacob Hawkins set a new personal record with a mark of 38.90m that earned eighth place. 

In the Triple Jump, Robin Wong achieved a new personal record with a mark of 13.34m that earned fifth place. In addition, Thomas Ogata also set a new personal record with a mark of 13.27m that secured seventh place.

In the Hammer Throw finals, sophomore Jahrel Claude-Ennin recorded a mark of 27.95m that placed 11th overall. 

In the High Jump, Thomas Ogata set a new personal record with a clearance of 1.89m that earned third place. Sophomore jumper Nkunim Kouame recorded a clearance of 1.86m that secured fourth place. Merritt also competed in the event and cleared 1.78m for seventh place. Junior Mason Oldani earned a 10th place finish with a clearance of 1.73m.

In the 10,000m run: first-year Simon Muthemba earned fourth place with a time of 34:38.00.

The 4x400 relay team of Kaiden Richardson, Gabe Feaman, Halter, and Nic Richardson earned second place with a time of 3:25.70.

In the Shot Put, Claude-Ennin earned sixth place with a mark of 11.85m. 

In the Discus finals, Claude-Ennin recorded a mark of 29.83m that earned 13th place.

In the Long Jump, Wong earned fifth place with a mark of 6.48m.

In the 5000m run, Muthemba crossed the finish line with a time of 17:06.44 that earned fifth place. 

In the 110m hurdles, Lucas LaRue set a new personal record with a time of 16.08 seconds that earned fourth place.

In the 1500m run, Tyler Mooney crossed the finish line with a time of 4:30.36 that earned eighth place. WU's Johnny Imboden also earned a top-10 finish as he recorded a time of 4:31.80 that secured ninth place.

In the 400m dash, first-year Kaiden Richardson set a new personal record with a time of 49.42 seconds that earned third place. In addition, Nic Richardson also set a new personal record with a time of 51.10 seconds that earned sixth place.  

In the 100m dash and in addition to Patterson and Merritt, Oldani crossed the finish line with a time of 11.79 seconds. First-year Juan Gomez set a new personal record with a time of 12.12 seconds. 

In the 800m and in addition to Halter's gold medal, Feaman set a personal record with a time of 2:06.01 that earned 10th place. In addition, Imboden and Mooney rounded out the field for Webster with times of 2:10.46 and 2:15.20 respectively. 

In the 400m hurdles, LaRue set a new personal record and earned a silver medal with a time of 57.22 seconds. 

In the 200m dash, Merritt earned a bronze medal with a time of 21.71 seconds. In addition, Patterson crossed the finish line with a time of 21.89 seconds that earned fourth place. Gomez set a new personal record with a time of 24.79 seconds. 

In the 3000m Steeplechase, Hawkins crossed the finish line with a time of 11:50.56 that earned fifth place while Kenneth Louvierre secured eighth place with a time of 12:29.68.
