WU’s Karl Moore Jr Makes SLIAC History With Third Straight Defensive Player of the Year Honor

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has released the end of season awards for the sport of men's basketball. WU's Karl Moore Jr. etched his name deeper into the SLIAC records book as he became the only player to be named the Defensive Player of the Year three times in a career. He was also selected to the SLIAC All-Defensive Team for the fourth time in his career. 

The senior forward from Jennings, Missouri entered the 2024-25 season as the SLIAC and Webster all-time blocked shots leader with 218. This season, Moore Jr led the team with 49 blocks that included 37 in conference play for an average of 2.6 blocks per game that finished second in the conference. Over the past four seasons as a Gorlok, he currently stands at 267 career blocks for an average 66.8 blocks per season.  

In addition, Moore Jr entered this season as the Webster all-time leader in rebounds with 744. This season, he continued his dominance at the glass and led the team with a total of 155 rebounds for an average of 8.2 per game that finished second in the conference. In conference play, he secured 109 in conference play for an average of 7.8 rebounds per game.     

With this selection, it marks the fourth time in program history a Gorlok has won this award.
