Men’s Tennis Shutout Monmouth 7-0 In Spring Season Home Opener

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Webster University men's tennis played in front of their home crowd for the first time this spring season with a non-conference against Monmouth College Friday evening. The Gorloks shutout the Fighting Scots by the final of 7-0 for their fifth victory of the academic year.

Webster and Monmouth opened the match with doubles competition as the Gorloks won all three matches. The number one doubles team of Matthew Birchmeier and Ethan Foucheaux dominated their opponents to 6-1 victory.

The number two doubles team of Eli Bartek and Carson Fisher worked fantastic as a team and cruised to a 6-1 victory.

The final doubles match featured the duo of Jack Forlenza and Tyler Gonzales shutout their opponents to a 6-0 victory.

In singles play, Foucheaux played in the number one singles match and dominated his opponent in straight sets by the scores of 6-0 and 6-3 for the victory.

In the number three singles match, Birchmeier displayed dominance and eliminated his opponent in straight sets by the scores of 6-1 and 6-1 for the victory.

In the number four singles match, Bartek dismantled his opponent in straight sets by the identical scores of 6-1.

In the number five singles match, Nicholas Granada shutout his opponent in straight sets which secured his first victory of the season.

In the number six singles match, Gonzales blanked his opponents with identical scores of 6-0

The Gorloks will rest today and return to the courts tomorrow Saturday, March 22 hosting Southwestern Illinois College at 10:00AM.
