Five Gorloks Secure Multiple Personal Records In Outdoor Opener At CMU Invite

FAYETTE, Mo. - The Webster University men's track and field team opened the 2025 outdoor season by competing in the two-day meet at Central Methodist University Invite on Friday and Saturday. Nine Gorloks achieved new personal records as five achieved multiple personal records at this meet. 

In the 100m dash, five Gorloks competed in the event led by Dylan Patterson with a new personal record with a time of 10.92 seconds. In addition, Steven Aubuchon and Robin Wong ran under 12 seconds with times of 11.21 seconds and 11.46 seconds respectively. WU's Kossa Othniel and Elijah Bohler rounded out the field for Webster with times of 12.09 seconds and 12.23 seconds.  

In the 200m dash, Patterson secured a new personal record with a time of 21.95 seconds. With that time, he improved his time by almost a full second from 22.94 seconds and currently ranks second in the conference for the event. In addition, Mason Oldani captured a new personal record with a time of 23.47 seconds. WU's Nic Richardson also competed in this event and recorded a time of 24.28 seconds. First-year competitor Nkunim Kouame earned a new personal record with a time of 24.58 seconds. WU's Kossa Othniel rounded out the field for Webster with a new personal record with a time of 26.55 seconds.  

In the 400m dash event, Richardson was the lone competitor for Webster and secured a new personal record with a time of 51.41 seconds. 

In the 800m event, six Gorloks competed in the event led by William Howells with a new personal record with a time of 2:02.07 that placed eighth overall. Sophomore Johnny Imboden secured a new personal record with a time of 2:14.03. WU's Jacob Hawkins recorded a time of 2:17.99 while Kenneth Louiverre recorded a time of 2:19.09. First-years Daniel McClellan and Noah Smith rounded out the field for Webster with times of 2:26.79 and 2:29.90.  

In the 1500m event, Howells secured fifth place with a new personal record time of 4:15.30. WU's McClellan recorded a time of 4:34.54 while Imboden secured a new personal record with a time of 4:35.82. In addition, Smith recorded a time of 4:41.87 while Hawkins recorded a time of 4:50.46. WU's Louvierre rounded out the field for Webster with a time of 5:01.13.

In the 5000m run, sophomore Ethan Nieroda recorded a time of 16:27.47 that placed third overall. 

In the 110m hurdles, first-year Lucas LaRue recorded a time of 17.01 seconds. In the 400m hurdles, LaRue was the lone Webster competitor and recorded a time of 1:00.89. 

In the high jump event, WU's Thomas Ogata earned a new personal record with a clearance of 1.76m (5"9.25") that earned eighth overall. With that clearance, he currently ranks third in the conference. In addition, Oldani placed 10th overall with a mark of 1.71m (5'07.25") on his second attempt. WU's Armond Williams rounded out the field for Webster with a clearance of 1.66m (5'05.25"). 

In the pole vault event, WU's Mark Govero earned a third place finish with a clearance of 4.41m (14'05.50"). First-year Bohler placed fifth overall with a clearance of 3.95m (12'11.50"). 

In the triple jump event, Ogata and Wong were the only two competitors for Webster and recorded the same marks of 12.50m (41'0.25"). With that mark by Ogata, it secured a new personal record and moved into fifth in the conference for the event.  

In the shot put event, first-year competitor Jahrel Claude-Ennin was the lone Gorlok in the event and recorded a mark of 11.97m (39'3.25") that placed 12th overall. In the discus event, Claude-Ennin was the lone Gorloks in the event and recorded a mark of 28.78m (94'5").

WU's Austin Merritt competed in the decathlon and recorded finishing marks in seven events. In the 100m dash, he placed first overall with a time of 11.05 seconds. In the 110m hurdles event, he recorded a new personal record with a time of 16.47 seconds that placed fifth overall. In the pole vault, Merritt placed fourth overall with a clearance of 3.55m (11'07.75"). In addition, he earned fourth overall in the shot put event with a mark of 10.88m (35'08.50"). In the javelin event, he earned a new personal record with a mark of 35.24m (115'07") that placed fifth overall. In the long jump, he secured a sixth place finish with a mark of 5.92m (19'05.25"). In the discus event, Merritt placed sixth overall with a mark of 22.45m (73'08"). With the combination of the seven events, he recorded a decathlon score of 3,827. 

The Gorloks will compete in their second outdoor meet of the season on Saturday, April 5 competing in the Billiken Alumni Meet hosted by Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri.
