Webster Baseball Secures First Top 25 Ranking Of Season; Selected At #19 In ABCA Coaches Weekly Poll

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) has released their top 30 weekly poll for Division III baseball. The Webster University baseball team has earned their first top 25 rankings of the season and were selected at #19 in this week's ABCA Coaches Poll. 

The Webster University baseball team has moved up eight spots from last week's poll to #19 which secures their first top 25 ranking of the season. The Gorloks have won 18 of their last 19 games dating back to March 10 and are currently on a 11-game win streak. During these past 19 games, the Gorloks pitching staff and bats have been on fire.
The Webster pitching staff has recorded an earned-run-average of 3.02 led by starting pitchers Ryan Greifelt and Carter Hunt. During this stretch of games, Greifelt is undefeated with a 6-0 record while pitching 35.2 innings for an ERA of 2.27. He has recorded a team-high 46 strikeouts and was named D3baseball.com Pitcher of the Week on April 9th. 

Carter, a San Diego native, is the number two starting pitcher for the Gorloks as he has pitched 29.1 innings and holds a 1.23 ERA in his past five starts. In those past five starts, he is currently undefeated at 5-0 and has recorded 28 strikeouts and allowed just four earned runs. The anchor of the pitching staff in Joel Arsenault has appeared in nine games and has secured seven saves while striking out 26 batters for a 0.55 ERA. 

The Gorloks bats have been electric as Webster has outscored their opponents 155-60. In this stretch of games, senior Evan Evola leads the team with a batting average of .408 and 22 RBI's. The first baseman has recorded 29 hits while adding four home runs and three doubles. Sophomore outfielder James Theodore leads the team with 30 hits and 18 stolen bases while ranking second on the team with 23 runs and six doubles. In addition, seniors R.J LaRocco and Karl Peters are currently hitting above .324 while driving in at least 13 runs. Lastly, first-year Ryan Hartz has started every game in right field and has recorded a batting average of .323 that includes 21 hits, 20 RBI's, and four home runs. He was named the SLIAC Baseball Hitter of the Week for the week of April 7-13. 

Webster will be back in action on Wednesday, April 16 hosting Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at 3:00PM at Grizzlies Ballpark.
