Govero and Claude-Ennin Sets New School Records; Three Gorloks Capture Gold Medals At 2025 SLIAC Outdoor Championships.

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Webster University men's track and field team competed in the two-day 2025 SLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Greenville University on Friday and Saturday. The Gorloks earned 12 medals in 10 different events at the this meet. As a team, Webster secured second place with 149 points.

Webster's Mark Govero set the new all-time Webster University Men's Outdoor Pole Vault record, a new personal record, and secured the gold medal with a clearance of 4.85m (15' 11"). First-year Jahrel Claude-Ennin set the new all-time Webster University Men's Outdoor Shot Put school record with a mark of 13.14M (43' 1.5"). With this mark, he shatters his own previous school record mark by .32m (just over one feet).

In the 100m dash, sophomore Dylan Patterson earned the gold medal with a time of 10.71 seconds. With this fantastic performance, Patterson became the first Gorlok to be named "fastest man" in SLIAC history. In the 1500m event, William Howells secured the gold medal with a time of 4:13.35.

In the pole vault event, the Gorloks earned three top-four finishes that secured 23 points which was led by Govero with his record-setting and first-place clearance of 4.85m (15' 11") for 10 points. In addition to Govero, first-year Elijah Bohler placed second overall with a new personal record clearance of 4.45m (14' 7.25") that secured eight points. Webster's Austin Merritt secured fourth place in the event with a clearance of 3.90m (12' 9.5") that earned five points. 

In the 100m dash, the Gorloks secured 20 points that included first, third, and fifth place finishes. In addition to Patterson first place and 10 points, Merritt had a great race and earned third overall with a time of 10.80 seconds. Fifth-year sprinter Steven Aubuchon secured a top-five finish with a time of 10.95 seconds that secured fifth overall. First-years Robin Wong and Kossa Othniel rounded out the field for Webster with times of 11.93 seconds and 12.10 seconds respectively. 

In the 200m dash, Patterson set a new personal record with a time of 21.93 seconds that secured third overall for six points while Merritt set a new personal record with a time of 21.95 seconds that placed fourth overall and five points. WU's Aubuchon finished just outside the top 10 with a time of 23.01 seconds while Mason Oldani recorded a time of 24.06 seconds. First-year Othniel rounded out the field for Webster and set a new personal record with a time of 25.81 seconds.  

In the 400m dash, sophomore Nic Richardson was the lone Webster competitor in the field and secured a seventh overall finish with a time of 51.28 seconds for two points.

In the 800m event, Howells earned a fifth place finish with a time of 2:00.94 that secured four points. Sophomore Johnny Imboden rounded out the field for Webster with a time of 2:13.77 that placed 13th overall.  

In the 1500m and in addition to Howells' first place and 10-point performance, first-year Noah Smith placed 10th overall with a time of 4:52.55.   

In the 5000m, sophomore Ethan Nieroda had a fantastic race and earned a second overall finish with a time of 15:59.97 that secured eight points. First-year Daniel McClellan secured a top-10 finish and placed eighth overall with a time of 17:39.56 for one point. 

In the 10,000m, Imboden achieved a new personal record with a time of 37:44.00 that placed eighth overall while Smith rounded out the field for Webster with a time of 40:30.00. 

In the 110m hurdles, Merritt placed third overall with a time of 16.56 seconds that secured six points. First-year Lucas LaRue set a new personal record with a time of 16.69 seconds that placed fourth overall. Fifth-year Armond Williams earned a sixth overall finish with a time of 17.21 seconds. 

In the 400m hurdles, LaRue was the lone Webster competitor and secured a new personal record with a time of 1:00.02 that placed seventh overall. 

In the 3000m Steeplechase, Nieroda set a new personal record with a time of 10:19.23 that placed second overall for eight points. Sophomore Jacob Hawkins earned a new personal record with a time of 11:20.72 that placed seventh overall. Senior Kenneth Louvierre rounded out the field for Webster and recorded a new personal record with a time of 11:38.98.

In the 4x100m relay, the relay team of Aubuchon, Patterson, LaRue, and Merritt placed second overall with a time of 42.09 for eight points. The team was .07 seconds away from first place. 

In the 4x400m relay, the relay team of Patterson, LaRue, Merritt, and Richardson placed second overall with a time of 3:30.71 for eight points. 

In the High Jump event, first-year Nkunim Kauame set a new personal record with a clearance of 1.89m (6' 2.25") that placed third overall and six points. The duo of Merritt and Thomas Ogata earned a tie for fifth place overall with clearances of 1.78m (5' 10") as that mark by Ogata set a new personal record. WU's Williams earned a tie for eighth overall with a clearance of 1.73m (5' 8") while Oldani rounded out the field for Webster with a clearance of 1.68m (5' 6").

In the Long Jump, first-year Wong placed ninth overall with a mark of 6.12m (20' 1") while Ogata recorded a mark of 5.66m (18' 7"). WU's Kauame rounded out the field for Webster with a mark of 5.17m (16' 11..5").

In the Triple Jump event, Wong earned a sixth place finish with a mark of 12.72m (41' 8.75") that secured three points. WU's Ogata secured a new personal record with a mark of 12.68m (41' 7.25") that placed seventh overall.

In the Discus Throw, Claude-Ennin set a new personal record with a mark of 32.40m (106' 3") that placed eighth overall. 

In the Hammer Throw, Claude-Ennin secured a fifth place finish with a mark of 36.13m (118' 6") that earned four points. 

In the Javelin event, Claude-Ennin recorded a mark of 23.22m (76' 2"). 

Thirteen Gorloks set a new personal record in at least one event at this meet.
