WU’s McClellan and Ogata Secure First Collegiate Wins At SLU Meet

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Webster University men's track and field team continued the outdoor season by competing in the Billiken Alumni Meet hosted by Saint Louis University on Saturday. WU's Daniel McClellan secured his first collegiate win in the 5000m run and won by 16 seconds while Thomas Ogata captured his first collegiate win in the high jump.

In the 100m dash, three Gorloks competed in the event led by Mason Oldani with a time of 12.17 seconds that earned ninth overall. First-year's Nkunim Kauame and Kossa Othniel rounded out the field for Webster with times of 12.43 seconds and 12.53 seconds respectively. 

In the 400m dash, sophomore Nic Richardson was the lone Webster competitor in the event and recorded a time of 54.99 seconds.

In the 4x100m relay, the relay team of Steven Aubuchon, Austin Merritt, Lucas LaRue, and Dylan Patterson earned first overall with a time of 43.36 seconds. 

In the 800m event, senior William Howells placed sixth overall with a time of 2:02.67. WU's Kenneth Louiverre rounded out the field for Webster with a time of 2:20.88

In the 1500m event, sophomores Johnny Imboden and Jacob Hawkins competed in the event and recorded times of 4:43.24 and 5:04.95 respectively.  

In the 5000m run, first-year McClellan captured his first career win in the event with a time of 17:28.91 as he won by 16 seconds. Fellow first-year Noah Smith also competed in the event and recorded a time of 17:52.24.

In the high jump event, Ogata secured his first collegiate win in the event with a clearance of 1.65m (5'05.00"). WU's Kauame also cleared 1.65m but it was on his second attempt. 

In the long jump event, first-year Robin Wong was the lone competitor for Webster and recorded a time of 5.85m (19'02.50") that earned fourth overall. 

In the hammer throw, first-year Jahrel Claude-Ennin placed seventh overall with a mark of 27.52m (90'03").

In the javelin event, Merritt was the lone Webster competitor in the event and recorded a mark of 31.23m (102'05") that earned fourth overall. 

The Gorloks will continue the outdoor season with on Saturday, April 12th competing in the Gateway Invitational hosted by SIU-Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Illinois.
