Four Gorloks Earn UMAC All-Conference Honors In Men's Tennis

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) has announced the student-athletes who were selected to the 2025 UMAC Men's Tennis All-Conference and individual awards on Tuesday. Four Gorloks earned All-Conference honors led by Region VII no. 5 doubles team of Matthew Birchmeier and Ethan Foucheaux. Webster concludes the 2024-25 season with a 9-12 overall record and a 3-3 record in conference play. 

Birchmeier capped off his Gorlok career with a First Team All-Conference selection where he played the majority of the season at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles. In singles matches, he recorded a 9-10 overall record that included season sweeps over MUW. In conference matches, Birchmeier recorded a 4-1 record with a set win differential of 51-19 and two shutout sets. 

In doubles play, Birchmeier teamed up with Ethan Foucheaux as the duo recorded a 15-8 overall record that included a 7-1 record in conference matches with a win set differential of 43-19. Birchmeier and Foucheaux closed out the season with a shutout victory over MUW. 

In addition to Birchmeier, Foucheaux was selected to the First Team All-Conference and All-Sportsmanship teams where he played at No. 1 in singles and No. 1 in doubles. In singles matches, he recorded a 11-12 overall record that included a 4-3 conference record and a season sweep over Westminster College. 

In doubles play, Foucheaux partnered with Birchmeier all season and secured five shutout victories and season sweeps over MUW and Westminster College. This duo became the first ever doubles team in Webster University Men's Tennis history to be selected to an All-Region doubles team. 

A fellow senior Carson Fisher closed his Gorlok career with a Second Team All-Conference selection where he played the majority of the season at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles. In singles matches, Fisher recorded a 8-15 overall record that included a 4-3 record in conference matches which featured season sweeps over Westminster College and MUW. 

In doubles play, Fisher partnered up with both Eli Bartek and Jack Forlenza for the majority of the season and recorded a 10-13 overall record that included a 4-3 in conference matches. In those seven conference matches, Fisher registered season sweeps over Westminster College and MUW and two shutout victories of Westminster College.

The final All-Conference award honoree was Forlenza as he was selected as the UMAC Honorable Mention. This season, Forlenza played the majority of the season at No. 5 singles and split time between No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. In singles matches, he recorded a 10-7 overall record that included a 4-2 conference record. In those six conference matches, he won 59 sets compared to his opponents of 32 sets won. In addition, he captured a season shutout sweep over Westminster College. 

In doubles matches, Forlenza had five different doubles partners this season and recorded a 11-8 overall record that included a 4-2 conference record. In those six conference matches, Forlenza secured four shutout victories; two over Westminster College and one against Monmouth College and Principia College. He closed out the 2024-25 season with a 6-0 doubles shutout victory with Nicholas Granada over Principia College.
