Govero Secures Gold In Pole Vault; Seven Gorloks Recorded A Top-10 Finish At IC Snow Bird Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Webster University Men's Track & Field team competed in their second meet of the season by competing in the IC Snow Bird Invite at Illinois College on Saturday. WU's Mark Govero was crowned the champion of the pole vault event with a clearance of 4.40m. Seven Gorloks secured a top-10 finish at this meet.

In the High Jump, Thomas Ogata achieved a new personal record with a clearance of 1.80m that earned second overall. Sophomore jumper Nkunim Kouame earned third place finish with a clearing height of 1.80m.

In the Long Jump, sophomore Robin Wong earned a fourth place finish with a mark of 6.38m which was on his final attempt.

In the Shot Put, Austin Merritt secured a 12th place finish with a mark of 11.85m.

In the 60m hurdles, Lucas LaRue earned a 10th place finish with a time of 10.22 seconds.

In the 60m dash, Dylan Patterson recorded a time of 7.10 seconds that secured ninth overall. WU's Merritt placed 11th overall with a time of 7.15 seconds while Robin Wong tied his personal record with a time of 7.37 seconds that placed 24th overall.

In the One Mile run, Ethan Nieroda earned a sixth place finish with a time of 4:47.79. First-year Simon Muthemba recorded a time of 4:55.54 that secured 12th overall while Johnny Imboden crossed the finish line with a time of 5:07.07. WU's Tyler Mooney and Jacob Hawkins rounded the field for Webster with times of 5:23.16 and 5:33.00 respectively.

In the 400m dash, Nic Richardson recorded a time of 53.98 seconds for 13th place. First-year Kaiden Richardson recorded a time of 54.04 seconds that earned 14th place while Gabe Feaman recorded a time of 58.01 seconds. LaRue rounded out the field for Webster with a time of 58.66 seconds.

In the 800m, Imboden recorded a time of 2:18.35 while Nieroda recorded a time of 2:18.82.

The Gorloks will continue the indoor season on January 30 competing in the Principia College Relay in Elsah, Illinois.
