Three Gorloks Set New School Records; Three Different Gorloks Set New Personal Records at Principia Relays

ELSAH, Ill. - The Webster University men's track and field team competed in the two-day meet at Principia College over the weekend. Three Gorloks shattered a school while three other Gorloks set a new personal record at this meet.

Record- Breaking performances:
In the Long Jump, sophomore jumper Robin Wong became the new all-time indoor school record holder in this event with a mark of 6.59m. With this mark, he beat the previous school record (2018) by .07m, set a new personal record, and placed fourth overall.

In the 5000k run, junior runner Ethan Nieroda became the new all-time indoor school record holder in the event with a time of 16:08.77. With that time, he beat the previous school record (2019) by .19 seconds, set a new personal record, and placed fourth overall.

In the 500m dash finals, first-year Kaiden Richardson became the new all-time indoor school record holder with a time of 1:07.90. With that time, he beat the previous record (2024) by 2.89 seconds. In addition, he placed third overall.

Friday Events:
In the Pole Vault, Mark Govero earned a second place finish with a clearance of 4.50m which was on his second attempt. WU's Austin Merritt rounded out the clearing marks for Webster with a clearance of 3.60m which was on his first attempt.

In the High Jump, Thomas Ogata set a new personal record with a clearance of 1.83m that earned fifth overall. Sophomore jumper Nkunim Kouame rounded out the field for Webster with a clearance of 1.78 that earned sixth overall.

In the 60m dash semifinals, Dylan Patterson placed fourth overall with a time of 6.96 seconds which earned a spot in the finals. WU's Merritt secured a sixth place finish with a time of 7.06 seconds that earned a spot in the finals.

In addition, K. Richardson recorded a time of 7.47 seconds while Lucas LaRue recorded a time of 7.58 seconds. WU's Juan Gomez made his collegiate debut and recorded a time of 8.23 seconds.

In the 5000k run and in addition to Nieroda's record-breaking performance, first-year Simon Muthemba earned a sixth place finish with a time of 16:44.19.

Saturday Events:
In the Triple Jump, Ogata set a new personal record with a mark of 12.73m which earned seventh overall. Wong rounded out the field for Webster with a mark of 12.30m that secured tenth overall.

In the Shot Put finals, sophomore Jahrel Claude-Ennin was the lone Webster competitor and recorded a mark of 11.70m.

In the 60m dash finals, Patterson placed second overall with a time of 6.97 seconds while Merritt earned sixth overall with a time of 7.26 seconds.

In the Mile Run, Muthemba set a new personal record with a time of 4:51.65.

In the 500m dash finals and in addition to K. Richardson record-setting performance, Gabe Feaman recorded a time of 1:12.65 while Brayden Halter recorded a time of 1.13:87. WU's Kenneth Louvierre rounded out the field for Webster with a time of 1:19.72.

In the 300m dash finals, Nic Richardson recorded a time of 38.27 seconds while Lucas LaRue recorded a time of 39.43 seconds. WU's Kouame set a new personal record with a time of 40.16 seconds.

In the 3000k run, three Gorloks competed in the event which was paced by Johnny Imboden with a time of 10:12.10. WU's Tyler Mooney and Jacob Hawkins rounded out the field for Webster with times of 11:00.34 and 11:12.10 respectively.

The Gorloks will have six days off preparation before competing in the two-day meet at Northwestern Missouri State University on February 6-7 in Maryville, Missouri.
