Govero and Patterson Secure Wins At DePauw Invitational

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Webster University men's track and field team competed in their sixth meet of the season by participating in the DePauw Invitational on Saturday. WU's Dylan Patterson won the 60m dash new personal record time of 6.88 seconds while Mark Govero won the pole vault event with a new season-best clearance of 4.75m. As a team, Webster earned seventh place with 51.5 points.

In the 60m dash prelims, Patterson recorded a time of 7.02 seconds that earned a third place and qualified for finals. First-years Kaiden Richardson and Juan Gomez rounded out the field for Webster with times of 7.65 seconds and 8.11 seconds respectively.

In the 60m dash finals, Patterson got out of the blocks fast and sprinted a new personal record time of 6.88 seconds which earned first place. 

In the 200m dash, two Gorloks competed in the event as Richardson recorded a time of 24.66 seconds while Lucas LaRue recorded a time of 24.80 seconds.

In the 600m, first-year Gabe Feaman was the lone Webster competitor in the event and recorded a time of 1:31.09 that earned fourth overall.

In the 800m, first-year Tyler Mooney set a new season-best with a time of 2:11.98 while Kenneth Louvierre recorded a time of 2:26.07.

In the 1000m, four Gorloks competed in the event which was paced by first-year Brayden Halter with a time of 2:45.77 that earned fifth overall. WU's Ethan Nieroda was the next finisher as he  recorded a time of 2:54.31 that earned eighth overall. Junior runners Johnny Imboden and Jacob Hawkins rounded out the field for Webster with times of 2:55.29 and 3:12.62 respectively. 

In the 60m hurdles, sophomore hurdler Lucas LaRue was the only Gorlok in the event as he recorded a time of 9.24 seconds. 
 
In the Distance Medley Relay, the team of Nieroda, Feaman, Halter, and Simon Muthemba achieved a new season-best with a time of 11:38.17

In the high jump, Nkunim Kouame tied his season-best with a clearance of 1.83m that earned sixth place. WU's Thomas Ogata tied his personal record with a clearance of 1.83m that placed seventh overall. In addition, Austin Merritt and Mason Oldani rounded out the field for Webster with clearances of 1.73m and 1.63m respectively. 

In the pole vault and in addition to Govero, Elijah Bohler set a new season-best with a clearance of 3.95m that earned a tie for sixth overall.

In the triple jump, Ogata was the only Webster competitor in the field and recorded a mark of 12.18m that earned seventh overall.

In the shot put, Jahrel Claude-Ennin recorded a mark of 11.67m. In the weight throw, Claude-Ennin recorded a mark of 11.70m.

The Gorloks will compete in their seventh indoor meet of the season on Friday, February 20 by participating in the Hilltop Classic at Illinois College starting at 5:00PM in Jacksonville, Illinois.
