Two players mired in 1-of-15 shooting slumps from behind the arc, came out of them at almost the same time to help Webster even its St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference mark at 3-3 with the 75-64 victory over Eureka Saturday at Grant Gymnasium
Sophomore
Katy Meyer and freshman
Blaire Underwood each recorded career scoring highs and it was back-to-back three-pointers from Meyer that ignited the game-deciding 14-1 run. Meyer was 6-of-10, including 4-of-7 from long range, for 22 points, while Underwood knocked down five three-pointers and finished with 20 points.
Just as Eureka evaporated its entire 16-point deficit, Meyer took control. Her two free throws on the next possession kept the Red Devils at bay, and following one EC free throw, Meyer opened up the clouds and made it rain in Grant Gymnasium. She hit back-to-back triples, and following a jumper by freshman
Myrtie Reilly, hit another from behind the arc to open up a 12-point lead to send the Red Devils reeling with 4:26 left in the game.
Webster was never challenged for the rest of the game.
The Gorloks rallied from a sluggish beginning with a little work on the glass. The SLIAC's best offensive rebounding team flexed it muscle during a 20-7 run late in the first half. Webster hit the boards for seven offensive rebounds leading to 10 second chance points during the pivotal run. The aforementioned run enable WU to turn an one-point deficit into a 12-point lead.
Freshman
Ayrica Lockett recorded her three consecutive double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while freshman
Myrtie Reilly continues to be a force in the paint. The 6-3 center had five blocks to go along with 15 points and five rebounds.
Webster (8-6 overall, 3-3 SLIAC) will travel to Principia Tuesday.

QUOTES
Acting head coach Jordan Olufson
"It was good for us to bounce back with a victory. I was glad to see Blaire and Katy get out of their shooting troubles. It's hard to guard us (when they are making shots). "
on not calling a timeout when during Eureka's run
"They made a run at us. I told (the team) at halftime that (Eureka) is a good team and that they will make a run. I wanted to see if we would push back."
