Gorloks Finish Strong, Beat Anderson 62-54

Consolation Winners in Anderson Tournament

The Webster University women's basketball team defeated host Anderson University (IN), 62-54, on November 21, to take third place in the Anderson Tournament.  The Gorloks put forth a "great defensive effort throughout the game." as described by head coach Jordan Olufson, to rebound quickly from their first round loss the previous evening.

Down 39-33 at the half, Webster clamped down defensively in the second half.  Anderson was limited to five field goals in only 15 attempts (33 percent) after shooting 59 percent in the first half.  The Gorloks kept pace in the first half by hitting six three-pointers.  Webster had only 13 turnovers, after commiting 22 in the first round, and had 18 assists versus Anderson.  "We had a real team effort in this game." Olufson said afterward.

Freshman Airyn Miller (Belleville West HS, IL) had 12 points, four assists, and four steals, and was named to the All-Tournament team.  Katy Meyer (SR, Parkway Central HS, STL) led Webster with 15 points, Tori Fenemor (FR, St. Charles HS, STL) had nine points and six rebounds, and Ayrica Lockett (SO, Crossroads Prep, STL) added six points and seven rebounds.

The Gorloks head to Rock Island, IL, to take on Augustana College on November 28, and return home on December 2 to take on Blackburn College.
