No Snow Job, Gorloks Run Down Devils

Webster 70 Eureka College 49

On a night when most people were looking outside for a blizzard, the Webser University women's basketball team provided a flurry of steals at Grant Gymnasium, defeating Eureka College (IL), 70-49, on January 6. The win pushed the first-place Gorloks' record in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to 4-0.

Webster's pressure defense forced 32 Eureka turnovers and led to a season-high 21 team steals. Webster also amassed a season-high 51 rebounds, paced by Ayrica Lockett's (SO, Crossroads Prep, STL) season-high 16. Molly Zehner (JR, Oakville HS, STL), making her first start of the season, picked up eight points and pulled down nine rebounds.

Junior Barissa Ford (Clayton HS, STL) led the Gorloks with 12 points.  Katy Meyer (JR, Parkway Central HS, STL) and Megan Willett (SO, Parkway West HS, STL) both chipped in with 11 points.  Tori Fenemor (FR, St. Charles HS, STL) remained sidelined for a second game with a rib injury.

The Gorloks improved to 8-4 on the season. Webster heads to Principia College on January 9, and returns home to face Big Bend rival Fontbonne University on January 13.
