Balanced Attack Leads Gorloks to Victory, 71-58

Box Score Ending the year on a high note, the Webster University women’s basketball team snuck in a victory just before the New Year, defeating the College of St. Scholastica (MN), 71-58, on December 30 at Grant Gymnasium.  In picking up its second win, Webster had five players score in double figures as they came from behind in the second half.

The Gorloks took the lead with 12:15 remaining in the game on a jumper by Gwen Williams (JR, Ft. Zumwalt West HS) and were never headed again.  Webster had one of its better shooting contests on the season, shooting 44% in the second half, and 42% for the game.  Maggie Zehner (JR, Oakville HS) led the Gorloks with 12 points, while Williams  had 11 points, six steals, and four assists.

Cassie Endicott (FR, Civic Memorial HS, IL) helped Webster's charge with nine second-half rebounds.  Megan Willett (SR, Parkway West HS) also pitched in with 10 points and six rebounds, and four second-half blocked shots.
 
Webster is 2-8 on the season.  The Gorloks are back in action on January 4 at Grant, playing St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Blackburn College.
