Box Score The Webster University women's basketball team won its second straight St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game, defeating Blackburn College, 86-74, on January 29 in Carlinville, IL. Junior center Cassie Endicott (Bethalto, IL/Civic Memorial HS) tied a Webster single game record as she recorded a most unusual double double on the night.
Endicott had 10 blocks on the evening, tying a record set on February 14, 2009 by Myrtie Reilly against Greenville College. Along with 20 points in the contest, Endicott recorded a rare double double involving points and blocks. Endicott adds to her Webster career record as her total leaps to 132. Her 43 blocks in 2013-14 is the fifth highest single season total in team history. Endicott has the second highest season total of 52, set in her freshman season in 2011-12.
Courtney Pursley (SR, Lonedell, MO/St.Clair HS) had a team-high 26 points and seven rebounds, going 8-14 from the field and 8-9 from the free throw line. Pursley sank two three-pointers in the game. The 26 points are a season high for the Gorloks, eclipsing Pursley's 23 vs. Fontbonne on December 7. She is averaging a team-high 14.9 points per game on the year.
Webster took a 42-30 halftime lead, The Gorloks forced 23 turnovers while committing only 11 itself, and finished with 15 steals as they pressured the Beavers into numerous mistakes.
Webster improves to 7-3 in the SLIAC, as they hold onto fourth place, and 10-7 overall.
The Gorloks are home on February 1 as they host new SLIAC member Iowa Wesleyan, then hit the road for a game in Elsah, IL, on February 4 vs. Principia College.
