The Webster University golf team shot a second round 309 to wind up in ninth place at the Midwest Region Classic at the Wisconsin Dells, on September 30. Jon Hughes shot back to back rounds of 76 to lead the Gorloks with a team low 152 total.
Webster shot a 320, at the event at Trappers Turn Golf Club, to land in fifth place at the end of the first round. The 28 teams in the field battled rain, wind, and dropping temperatures on the first day of competition. Despite shaving 11 strokes off their team score in round two, the Gorloks slipped to ninth in the final standings.
Hughes (SO, Gardner, KS/Gardner Edgerton HS) was tied for sixth with his first round 76, then duplicated that score in round two for a 152 total, good enough for a tie for 11th place in the field of 140 golfers. Tyler Thorman (JR, Macomb, IL/Macomb HS) had the second low tournament score for Webster, shooting a 157 (79-78).
