LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Webster University golf team concluded tournament play at the 2025 Transylvania University Fall Invite with the final round on Sunday at the University Club of Kentucky. As a team, the Gorloks recorded a score of 314. With the combination of all three rounds, Webster finished 16th out of 19 teams with a score of 924.
The final round was led by junior Nico Marin with a four-over par score of 76. He opened the final round on hole 10 and started three-over par through the first two holes. Moments later, he carded back-to-back pars on holes 12 and 13 and later added another par on hole 15. He got a stroke back with a birdie on the par-five 16th hole but gave it back on with a bogey on hole 17. He closed out the first nine holes of the final round with a par on the 18th hole for a score of 41.
Marin continued his final round on the front with three consecutive pars on holes one through three. Moments later, he carded a birdie on the fourth hole and followed up with back-to-back pars on holes five and six. Following a bogey on hole seven and a par on hole eight, he closed out tournament play with a birdie on the ninth hole for the score of 76. For the round, he carded 10 pars, three bogeys, three birdies, and two double bogeys. With the combination of all three rounds, he recorded 30 pars, 12 bogeys, seven birdies, three double bogeys, a triple bogey, and a quad.Â
Sophomore Connor Luvin recorded the second lowest round on the final round for the Gorloks as he recorded a six-over par score of 78. He opened the round on hole 11 and started two-over par through the first three holes. Moments later, he responded with three straight pars on holes 14-16 and later another par on hole 18. He closed out the first nine holes with a par on hole one for a score of 39.Â
Luvin opened the final nine holes of the tournament on hole two with a par then followed up with a birdie on the par-3 third hole. After an unlucky bogey on hole four, he carded back-to-back pars on holes five and six. He closed out the final four holes three-over par that included a par on hole eight for the score of 76. For the round, he recorded 10 pars, seven bogeys, and one birdie. For the entire tournament, he carded 34 pars, 19 bogeys, and one birdie.Â
First-year Erik Malmgren closed out his first collegiate tournament with a seven-over par score of 79. He opened the round on hole 10 and carded four consecutive pars on holes 10-13. Following a bogey on hole 14, he recorded back-to-back pars on holes 15 and 16. The international student-athlete from Sweden closed out the first nine holes of the final round with consecutive bogeys for the score of 39
Malmgren opened the final nine holes of the tournament with a par on hole which was followed up with a bogey on hole two. Shortly later and after a bogey on hole four, he responded with three straight pars on hole five through seven. He closed out the tournament with a par on hole nine for the score of 79. For the round, he carded 12 pars, five bogeys, and a double bogey. For the entire tournament, he recorded 36 pars, 10 bogeys, four birdies, and four double bogeys.
Cole Makgill and Jacob LeBlanc rounded out the team scoring with final round scores of 81 apiece. Makgill opened his tournament on hole nine with a par and later added another par on hole 12. Following a bogey on hole 13, he closed out the final three holes of the first nine holes four-over par for a score of 45.
The New Zealand native in Makgill opened the final nine holes with a par on hole 18 and followed up with a birdie on hole one. Moments later, he carded pars on holes two and four. After an unfortunate bogey on hole five, he closed out the final three holes with two pars and a birdie on hole eight for the score of 81. For the round, he recorded eight pars, six bogeys, two birdies, one double bogey, and a triple bogey. With the combination of all three rounds, he carded 27 pars, 14 bogeys, nine birdies, three double bogeys, and a triple bogey.
LeBlanc started his final round on hole 11 and started three-over par through the first two holes, However, he responded with back-to-back pars on holes 13 and 14. He closed out the final five holes of the first nine holes with three bogey and two pars for a score of 42.Â
The Canada native opened the final nine holes of the tournament with four straight pars on holes two through five. Moments later a two-hole skid, he carded back-to-back pars on holes eight and nine. The junior golfer closed the tournament with a birdie on hole 10 that helped generate the score of 81. For the round, he constructed 10 pars, five bogeys, a birdie, a double bogey, and a triple bogey. For the entire tournament, he carded 27 pars, 16 bogeys, six birdies, three double bogeys, and two triple bogeys.Â
