Golf Finishes 3rd at Edgewood Classic to Open 14-15

Starting off the year in fine fashion, the Webster University golf team finished in third place at the Culver's Edgewood Classic in Janesville, WI, on August 30.  The Gorloks shot a second round 296 to wind up at 599 for the tournament.  Sophomore Justin Onken shot a 146 total, finishing tied for fourth in the field of 69 golfers.

Webster was just five strokes behind tournament winner, host Edgewood College at 594, in the field of 12 teams.  The University of Wisconsin-Stout finished second ahead of the Gorloks, at 595.  This is the second straight year Webster trimmed its score at Janesville, shooting a 625 in 2012 and a 618 in 2013.

Jon Hughes (SO, Gardner, KS/Gardner Edgerton HS) had the day's low round for Webster, shooting a 73 and finishing tied for seventh on the leader board for the tournament with a 148.  Onken (Easton, IL/Illini Central HS) had shot a team low 72 in the first round.
