Hocker Earns Two Gorlok Awards

Named Male Student-Athlete of the Year and Inspiration Award Winner

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Webster University Department of Athletics announced the 2021-22 Inspiration Award and Male Student-Athlete of the Year Award at their annual Gorlok Awards in May. Will Hocker of the men's golf team won both awards at the banquet.

The inspiration award is given to a student-athlete who has displayed a positive attitude, high personal motivation, will, and drive which impacts the athletics department. Hocker displays this through his high level of maturity and leadership as a fifth-year senior on the men's golf team. His younger teammates look to him for guidance and success while his drive to succeed and improve make him a force in Division III golf.

Hocker, a fifth-year senior out of Grapevine, Texas, had one of the most decorated careers of any Gorlok in any sport. He won 14 career golf tournaments including the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship to capture the schools first individual national championship. He followed that up with a runner-up finish this year at the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship and ended the year with the best scoring average in all of division III men's golf with a 70.45.

Hocker led his team to a fifth straight, and 11th overall, SLIAC Championship after winning the tournament with a three-round score of 211 (72-69-70, -5). He became just the fourth player in SLIAC history to win multiple SLIAC Championships and was named the SLIAC Men's Golfer of the Year for the second time in his career. He was also named First Team All-SLIAC, PING All-Region 6, and a PING First Team All-American.
