TUNICA, Miss. – The Webster University men's golf team was back in action over the past two days when they traveled to Tunica, Mississippi, to compete in the 2023 Rhodes Fall Invitational at Tunica National Golf Club. The Gorloks finished in 10
th place out of 17 teams after shooting a three-round score of 898 (295-296-307, +34).
Jan Antonin Wdowka led the way for the Gorloks as he finished in a tie for second place out of 89 golfers after shooting a three-round score of 215 (-1). He shot a 70 (-2) in the first round, a 71 (-1) in the second round, and a 74 (+2) in the third round to finish the tournament just one stroke back of the leader. He finished with 31 pars and 14 birdies while having a field best 2.67 (-4) scoring average on par 3's.
Justin McCoy also had a top 15 finish as he finished in a tie for 13
th after shooting a three-round score of 222 (+6). He finished with a 72 (E) in the first round, a 76 (4) in the second round, and a 74 (+2) in the final round. He recorded a team high 35 pars while adding seven birdies.
In addition to Wdowka and McCoy,
Nico Marin (79-75-80) and
Logan Forister (74-78-82) both finished in a tie for 61
st after they both shot a 234 (+18) through three rounds.
Austen Velazquez was the final competitor for the Gorloks as he finished in a tie for 67
th after shooting a three-round score of 235 (82-74-79, +19).
Josh Hayes competed as an individual for Webster and finished in a tie for 76
th place. He finished with a three-round score of 238 (80-80-78, +22).
Rhodes (Tenn.) College won the event after finishing with a three-round team score of 878 (286-291-301, +14). Brayden Weiss from Wabash (Ind.) College won the event after shooting a 214 (71-70-73, -2).
Webster will return to the course on Monday, October 9
th and Tuesday, October 10
th when they travel to Indianapolis, Indiana, to compete in the Wabash College Invitational. The two-day event will take place at Broodmoor Country Club.
