LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Webster University men's golf team kicked off their fall season this weekend when they traveled to Lexington, Kentucky, to compete in the Transylvania Fall Invitational at Big Blue Golf Course. The Gorloks finished in second place as they finished with a three-round team score of 863 (
295-287-281, -1). McDaniel (Md.) College won the event as they finished with a three-round team score of 862 (
290-282-290, -2).
The Gorloks team score of 281 (-7) in the third round tied the program record for the best single round score in team history. The team shot a 281 last season in the final round of SLIAC Championships.
Jan Antonin Wdowka led the way for Webster as he won his second career event. He shot an impressive three round score of 206 (-10) after shooting a 71 (-1) in the first round, a 69 (-3) in the second round, and a career best 66 (-6) in the third round.
Justin McCoy was the second best finisher for the Gorloks as he shot a three round score of 214 (-2). He finished with a 75 (+3) in the first round, a 72 (E) in the second round, and a 67 (-5) in the third round.
Logan Forister had a great collegiate debut as he shot a 219 (+3). He recorded a 75 (+3) in the first round before shooting back-to-back 72's (E) in the second and third rounds.
Austin Velazquez and Joshua Hayes rounded out the competitors for the Gorloks as Velazquez shot a three-round score of 228 (+12) while Hayes shot a three-round score of 231 (+15).
The Gorloks will return to the course on Sunday, September 24
th and Monday September 25
th when they travel to Tunica, Mississippi, to compete in the Rhodes Fall Classic. The event will take place at the Tunica National Golf Club.
