Men’s Track Earn Numerous Top-10 Finishes In Season Opener At Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Webster University men's track & field team opened the 2024-25 indoor season by participating in the Titan First Chance meet hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday. Several Gorloks either achieved a new personal record or a top-10 finish in their respective events. 

In the 60m race, Dylan Patterson earned the seventh overall ranking with a time of 7.38 seconds. St. Louis native, Donavin Hodges achieved a new personal-record with a time of 7.47 seconds. 

In the 200m race, six Gorloks competed in the event paced by Steven Aubuchon with a time of 23.62 seconds that earned a 12th place. Sophomore Nic Richardson was the next Gorlok that crossed the finish line as he recorded a time of 24.21 seconds. Junior Hodges earned a time of 25.26 seconds. In addition, first-years Thomas Ogata and Nkunim Kouame also competed in the event and recorded finishing times of 26.02 and 26.54 seconds respectively. The final Gorlok that competed in the event was first-year Kossa Othniel as he recorded a finishing time of 32.28 seconds.

In the 300m event, Patterson achieved a new personal-record in the 300m event with a time of 37.67 seconds. In addition, Richardson recorded a time of 37.96 seconds while first-year Lucas LaRue achieved a time of 39.41 seconds. Sophomore Mason Oldani rounded out the field of competitors for Webster and recorded a time of 40.06 seconds. 

In the 600m race, William Howells earned a second place finish with a time of 1:27.57 as that time is just .6 seconds off the all-time school record. In addition, Kenneth Louvierre secured the eighth overall spot with a time of 1:36.00.

In the one mile run, Ethan Nieroda paced the Gorloks and earned a ninth overall ranking with a time of 4:56.39. First-year Daniel McClellan achieved a finishing time of 4:59.28 for 11th place while Johnny Imboden recorded a finishing time of 5:00.95 that earned 12th overall. Noah Smith and Jacob Hawkins also competed in the event and recorded times of 5:03.02 and 5:22.50 respectively. 

In the high jump, Oldani recorded a new personal record with a clearance of 1.80m that earned fourth overall. Kouame and Ogata also competed in the event and posted clearances of 1.75m and 1.65m respectively. 

In the triple jump event, first-year Robin Wong recorded a new personal record with a mark of 12.88m. In addition, Ogata placed 13th overall with a mark of 11.77m.

The Gorloks will make the identical trip back to IWU on Saturday, January 18 to compete in the I-55 Invitational.
