Six Gorloks Achieved New Personal Records At IWU’s I-55 Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Webster University men's track and field team started the second semester of competition by participating in the I-55 Invitational hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday. Six Gorloks achieved new personal-records

In the high jump event, first-year Nkunim Kouame tied his career-best with a clearance of 1.75m which earned the ninth overall ranking. In addition, first-year Thomas Ogata recorded a collegiate-best clearance of 1.70m while Mason Oldani recorded a clearance of 1.65m.

In the 60m hurdles event, first-year Lucas LaRue recorded a new personal-record in this event with a time of 9.27 seconds which earned the seventh overall spot. In addition, WU's Armond Williams earned the ninth overall spot with a time of 9.46 seconds.

In the 200m event, Dylan Patterson achieved a new personal-record with a time of 23.00 seconds which earned fourth overall. In addition, LaRue recorded a time of 24.54 seconds while Oldani recorded a time of 25.34 seconds. Ogata rounded out the Gorloks in this event with a time of 26.57 seconds.

In the 400m event, Patterson recorded a new personal-record with a time of 52.62 seconds which secured the fifth overall ranking. WU's Kenneth Louvierre also competed in this event and recorded a time of 58.80 seconds.

In the 800m event, William Howells earned the sixth overall spot with a time of 2:05.41. WU's Jacob Hawkins also competed in this event and recorded a time of 2:22.64.

In the 1200m run, sophomore Ethan Nieroda earned the ninth overall ranking with a time of 3:39.61. In addition, first-year Daniel McClellan secured the tenth overall spot with a time of 3:44.50. WU's Johnny Imboden was on McClellan heels and recorded a time of 3:46.59 for 11th overall. First-year Noah Smith also competed in this event and recorded a time of 3:49.39 for 12th overall. Hawkins and Louvierre rounded out the Gorloks with times of 3:59.89 and 4:01.88 respectively.

In the 3000m run, Nieroda earned the tenth overall spot with a time of 9:44.05. In addition, McClellan recorded a time of 10:13.82 for 13th overall while Imboden recorded a time of 10:14.77 for 14th overall. WU's Smith rounded out the field of Gorloks with a time of 11:21.53 for 19th overall.

In the pole vault event, Mark Govero secured the third overall spot with a clearance of 4.45m. In addition, Austin Merritt recorded a new personal-record in this event with a mark 4.00m which earned seventh overall. WU's Landon Garland secured the eighth overall spot with a clearance of 3.85m while first-year Elijah Bohler earned a tie for ninth overall with a clearance of 3.70m.

In the triple jump event, first-year Robin Wong earned a new personal-record with a mark of 13.14m which secured fourth overall.

In the shot put event, Merritt recorded a new personal-record with a mark of 11.40m which earned ninth overall.

The Gorloks will have less than a week of preparation before participating in the Friday Night Spikes #2 hosted by Rose-Hulman on Friday, January 24 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
