Caquelin’s Career-High Performance Earns SLIAC Player of the Week Honors

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has released the names of the student-athletes from the competing winter sports that were selected as Player of the Week for the week of December 8th-14th. WU's Akaela Caquelin was named the SLIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week following a career-high 23 points that included a career-high five three-pointers against Saint Mary's College.

Last Saturday, Caquelin got off to a hot start from the field as she recorded 12 first quarter points that included 6-of-7 from the field and a pair from behind the arc. 

In the third quarter, Caquelin drained back-to-back three-point baskets and closed out the quarter scoring with a layup for eight points. In the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, she knocked her fifth three-pointer which led to a career-high performance.  

In addition to scoring, she recorded four rebounds, two steals, and one assist. From the game, she shot 9-of-13 from the field and 5-of-9 from deep. 

With this selection, it marks the first of her career and the first Player of the Week awarded to Webster this season.
