WU’s Claude Sets New School Record In Shot Put At Principia Relays

ELSAH, Ill. - The Webster University men's track and field team concluded action at the two-day Principia College Relays on Saturday. WU's Jahrel Claude set the new all-time indoor school record in shot put with a mark of 12.51m (41'0.50"). With that mark, he shattered the previous record by over two feet.

In the one mile run, four Gorloks competed in this event as three student-athletes secured new personal-records led by William Howells with a time of 4:42.85. WU's Ethan Nieroda was the next Gorlok that crossed the finish line as he recorded a time of 4:44.99 which tied his personal-record. First-year Daniel McClellan recorded a new personal-record with time of 4:53.21. WU's Johnny Imboden rounded out the field of competitors for Webster and recorded a time of 4:57.12.

In the 500m dash event, WU's Jacob Hawkins recorded a time of 1:17.37 which earned 11th overall while first-year Noah Smith recorded a time of 1:21.60.

In the 300m dash event, WU's Nic Richardson earned 14th overall with a time of 38.30 seconds. LaRue was the next Gorlok that crossed the finish line as he recorded a new personal-record with a time of 39.28 seconds. WU's Nkunim Kauame rounded out the field of competitors for Webster with a time of 42.15 seconds.

In the 60m hurdles, Lucas LaRue earned sixth overall with a time of 9.24 seconds.

In the triple jump event, Thomas Ogata was the lone Webster competitor and recorded a mark of 11.74m on his second attempt.

The Gorloks will be back in action on Saturday, February 8 participating in the Jim Green Invitational hosted by Illinois College.
