Paro Collects UMAC South Division Rookie of the Year; Five Gorloks Earn UMAC All-Conference Honors

 ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) has announced the student-athletes who were selected to the 2025 UMAC Women's Tennis All-Conference team and individual awards on Tuesday. WU's Lucy Paro was named the UMAC South Division Rookie of the Year and to the First Team All-Conference team while four other Gorloks earned All-Conference honors. The Gorloks closed out the season with a 9-7 overall record and 2-2 in conference play. 

Paro, a first-year student-athlete from O'Fallon, Missouri got her Gorlok career off to fantastic start as was named the UMAC Rookie of the Year and was also selected to the First Team All-Conference team. This season, Paro played the majority of the fall and spring seasons at number two in singles and doubles. In singles play, she recorded an 8-7 overall record that included a 93-36 points win differential. In conference play, she recorded a 3-2 regular season record.  

In doubles, Paro teamed up with senior Maddie Mena as the duo recorded a 9-5 overall record at number two doubles. In those matches, the team recorded four shutout victories and outscored their opponents 68-43. In the regular season conference matches, Paro and Mena went undefeated with a 4-0 record that included a win differential of 24-2. Paro was a key member of the team that helped the team to a nine-win season and an appearance in the UMAC Women's Tennis Tournament. 

In addition to Paro's first team all-conference honor, he doubles teammate in Mena was also selected to the First Team All-Conference team. In her final season in the Navy and Gold, Mena recorded a 8-6 overall record in singles where she played the majority of the season at number four. In the those 14 matches, she outscored her opponents by the score of 92-69. In conference play, she recorded a 4-1 record that included a 44-13 points win differential. 

In doubles, Mena partnered up with Paro as the duo won 65 percentage of their matches and did not lose a conference match. Mena capped off her Gorlok career by participating in the 2025 UMAC Women's Tennis Tournament.   

In addition to Paro and Mena, Journee White also earned a First Team All-Conference selection. This season, White played as the majority of the season at number one in singles and doubles. In singles play, she recorded a 7-5 overall record and 3-1 conference record that included a points win differential of 80-67. 

In double competitions, White teamed up Kylie Chitwood as the number one doubles team and record a12-2 record for a win percentage of 86 percent. The duo outscored their opponents 62-14 and went undefeated in conference play with a 6-0 record that include two victories at the 2025 UMAC Women's Tennis Tournament.  

Chitwood, a senior from Millstadt, Illinois capped off her Gorlok career with a Second Team All-Conference selection as she played the majority of season at number three in singles and number one doubles. In singles play, she recorded a 8-5 overall record that included a win differential of 81-62. In the regular season conference matches, she went undefeated with a 5-0 record. In addition, she was named to the 2025 UMAC All-Sportsmanship team.  

In doubles, Chitwood and White recorded a undefeated 6-0 record and recorded two victories at the 2025 UMAC Women's Tennis Tournament. 

The final member of the team that received a All-Conference honor was Evie Schuetz as she earned an Honorable Mention selection. This season, Schuetz play the majority of the season at number six and recorded a 6-7 overall record and a 2-2 record in singles conference matches.
