Men’s Basketball Capture 2025-26 SLIAC Regular Season Title

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Webster University men's basketball team captured a historic conference season and have earned the 2025-26 SLIAC Men's Basketball Regular Season title with a 15-1 conference record. With this title, the Gorloks have secured the No. 1 seed and will host the 2025-26 SLIAC Men's Basketball Tournament starting on February 26th.

This season, the Gorloks set two new program records which included 22 regular season wins and a 15-game conference win streak. 

In conference play, five Gorloks ended the regular season inside the top-25 in at least one statistical category. Charles Nelson led the conference with an 87.2 free-throw percentage, tied for second in assists with an average of 3.8 per game, and third in scoring with an average of 18.5 points per game. In addition, he finished fifth with an average of 2.1 made three-pointers per game and eighth in field goal percentage by shooting 48.1 percent from the field. Lastly, he finished ninth in steals with an average of 1.9 per game and 10th in minutes played for an average of 31.0 minutes per game.

Senior guard Jemard Sykes II finished ninth with an average of 1.6 made three-pointers per game, 14th in assists with an average of 2.4 per game, and 14th in minutes played for an average of 28.6 minutes per game. In addition, he concluded the regular season 19th in steals with an average of 1.3 per game, 23rd in rebounding with an average of 4.9 per game, and 25th in scoring with an average of 10.3 points per game 

Junior forward Adam Painter finished ninth in rebounding with an average of 6.6 per game, 17th in assists with an average of 2.3 per game, and 24th in steals with an average of 1.0 per game.

Junior forward Justin Ugo secured two top-25 rankings; 18th in blocks with 12 for an average of 0.5 per game and 21st in rebounding with an average of 5.0 per game.

WU's Kendall Horton was the final Gorlok that secured a top-25 ranking which was 17th in steals with an average of 1.3 per game.

The Gorloks will begin postseason play on February 26th hosting #4 Spalding University at 7:30pm in Grant Gym.
