Sykes II Named SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has released the names of the winter sports student-athletes who were named SLIAC Player of the Week for the week of February 9-15. St. Louis native and senior guard, Jemard Sykes II was named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week where he averaged 17.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game in a two-game span. He shot 71 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc. 
 
Last week, Webster continued their undefeated conference season with two SLIAC games. In the decision against Eureka College, Sykes II led the team with 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field that included 4-of-7 from behind the arc. In addition, he secured five rebounds, recorded a team-high three steals, and added two assists. 

In the previous game against Greenville, Sykes II recorded 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field that included 1-3 from three-point land. In addition, he collected six rebounds and added five assists. Lastly, he recorded two blocks and two steals. 

The Gorloks will continue conference play with a road decision at Lyon College on Thursday, February 19 starting at 7:30PM in Batesville, Arkansas.
