The women’s soccer season will continue for Webster University, after defeating Maryville University 2-0 in the first round of the SLIAC Tournament on Oct. 29. With this victory, the Gorloks will play Principia College in Elsah, IL on Nov. 1 at 1p.m. The final will feature the top two seeds in the tournament vying for a spot in the NCAA national tournament.
Webster came out firing in the first half, with senior team captain Kelly Strecker feeding her former high school teammate Casey Robinson for the first goal of the game. The second and final goal of the game came in the second half, with sophomore Christy Capkovic assisting freshman Morgan Milfeld. The game was very back and forth all night, and though it was very physical, the only card given out was to Maryville’s Caroline Jaycox (yellow).
This Saturday's game between Webster and Principia is a rematch from last Tuesday night when Principia defeated Webster 3-2 in double OT. Come out and watch the Gorloks in their march to the NCAA Tournament on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Elsah, IL.
