Box Score The Webster Universty women's soccer team made a lightning fast recovery to help post a 5-1 win over North Central College (IL), on September 22, at the Soccer Park. After the Cardinals tied the score at 1-1 in the second half, it took the Gorloks just 29 seconds to break the tie and secure the win.
Webster entered the locker room at the half with a 1-0 lead off a Jordan Fosburgh (JR, Collinsville HS, IL) goal. The goal was Fosburgh's second of the year and came on a cross from Jessica Mess (FR, Northwest HS, MO). North Central tied the game at the 52:49 mark, less than eight minutes into the second half, on a floater just under the cross bar that eluded goalie Jessica Davis (SO, Belleville West HS, IL).
But 29 seconds later, Ally Nikolaus (JR, St. Joseph's Academy, MO) returned the favor with a floater just under the North Central crossbar. The goal was Nikolaus' fourth of the season, with Freddie Brandt (JR, Davis HS, CA) getting the assist.
Lauren Pratt (FR, Incarnate Word Academy, MO), Jessica Mess, and Kristin Montgomery (SO, Duchesne HS, MO) scored insurance goals for the Gorloks in the second half.
Pratt's goal came at the 63:09 mark, off a throw-in by Amy Schield (SO, Belleville West HS, IL). Pratt leads Webster with six goals on the year. Mess scored at the 76:41 mark off a pass from Jenna Hopkins (FR, Sacred Heart, IL). Montgomery scored on a breakaway with just a minute and a half remaining, picking up her fifth goal...good for second on the team.
Webster is 6-2 on the season with the win. The Gorloks take on Washington University, the 9th-ranked team nationally in the NCAA III on September 27 at the Soccer Park.
