Box Score Webster University women's soccer team exploded for six second-half goals in a 7-2 win over Coe College (Iowa) Sunday (Sept. 22) at St. Louis Soccer Park.

Webster has scored 16 goals in its last three games. The Gorloks' seven goals are a season high and the most they have scored in a game since October 2012 when they notched 10 goals against MacMurray (Ill.). In that contest, Webster also scored six times in the second half.

Today, freshman Shelby Simmons (St. Louis, MO / Parkway North) got Webster on the board in the 30th minute with her first collegiate goal.

Fourteen minutes into the second half, junior Whitney Scott (Independence, KY / Holy Cross) and sophomore Ashley Mess (St. Louis, MO / Northwest) scored within one minute of each other. Scott recorded another goal in the 63rd minute and now has two on the season.

Freshman Allison Ferguson (Highland, IL / Highland) tallied her first two career goals late in the second half. Senior Jordan Fosburgh (Collinsville, IL / Collinsville) scored the Gorloks' final goal in the 87th minute. The goal was Fosburgh's second of the season.

Senior Ally Nikolaus (St. Louis, MO / St. Joseph's Academy) and junior Kristin Montgomery (St. Louis, MO / Duchesne) were both credited with two assists. Junior Lauren Scalise (Elmhurst, IL / York), sophomore Sarah Darabcsek (St. Louis, MO / Timberland) and sophomore Jessica Mess (St. Louis, MO / Northwest) each earned an assist.

Webster has won three straight contests and is 8-1 on the season. The Gorloks received votes in the two most recent D3soccer.com top-25 national polls for NCAA Division III.

Next up for Webster is a road game against Washington University in St. Louis on Wednesday (Sept. 25) at 7:30 p.m. The Gorloks then open St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a home contest against Eureka (Ill.) on Saturday (Sept. 28) at 3 p.m.
