Box Score The Webster University women's soccer team won its seventh straight game overall, and eighth straight game in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, with a 3-0 win at Greenville College (IL) on October 28. The Gorloks are 8-0 in the SLIAC, with seven of the wins coming by shutout, and take over sole possession of first place with the victory.
Webster has outscored its SLIAC opponents, 49-1, heading into the regular season finale against Fontbonne University on November 1, at the Soccer Park. Webster has won 18 straight regular season games in the SLIAC, dating back to the 2012 season. Webster's longest win streak in the SLIAC is 43, from the 2001-04 seasons.
Jessica Davis (SR, Belleville, IL/Belleville West HS) and Rachael Ainsworth (FR, Salt Lake City, UT/Salt Lake School for Science Education) shared the shutout in goal. Davis got the decision, improving her season record to 6-2-2. It was Davis' 41st career win for Webster, extending her all-time career high for the Gorloks.
Ashley Mess (JR, St. Louis, MO/Northwest HS) started the Webster scoring, netting her third goal of the season on a penalty kick in the first half. Kristin Montgomery (SR, St. Louis, MO/Duchesne HS) scored her seventh goal of the season, giving her 38 on her career, and inching her closer to the 100 point career mark, as she now sits at 98 points. Lauren Pratt (JR, St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) assisted on the goal.
Kayla Dye (St. Louis, MO/Windsor HS) capped the Webster scoring with her team-leading ninth goal in just her freshman campaign. Dye also leads the team with 26 points for the season. Pratt picked up her second assist on the night on the goal, giving her five goals and five assists for the year.
The win comes after the Gorloks crept into the most recent Central Region rankings, landing in the #10 spot for their first appearance of the season.
The Gorloks host Fontbonne at the Soccer Park on November 1. Fontbonne tied Westminster College on October 28, 1-1, dropping them to 7-0-1 in the SLIAC. A win or tie would lock up Webster hosting the SLIAC Tournament on November 5-7.
