KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Webster University women's soccer team has been rewarded for its 2-1-0 start to the 2019 season as the Gorloks are ninth in this season's initial United Soccer Coaches Division III Central Region rankings that were released Tuesday afternoon.

The Gorloks, who improved to 2-1-0 on the season following its 6-3 win at home on Saturday against Elmhurst, are one of five teams in the initial Central Region poll that has at least one loss on the year. 

Prior to the win over Elmhurst, Webster had opened the season with a 4-2 win at Concordia-Chicago on Aug. 30 and a 1-0 setback on Sept. 1 at Dominican, who is ranked sixth in the initial Central Region rankings. 

Wheaton (4-0-0) sits atop this season's first Central Region rankings and are followed at No. 2 by Washington University in St. Louis (3-1-1), who the Gorloks face at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo., on Sept. 25. The University of Chicago (1-1-0) is third and Concordia-Wisconsin (2-0-0) is ranked fourth in the region. Wheaton, WashU and Chicago are ranked sixth, 10th and 23rd in this week's initial United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 poll.

Following the Top 4 teams in the Central Region poll, North Central (3-0-1) is ranked fifth, while Adrian (Mich.) (2-1-1) follows Dominican (2-0-0) at No. 7. Hope (Mich.) (0-1-3) is eighth and Webster is followed by Augustana (1-1-0) at No. 10 this week. 

The Gorloks will look to win its second straight match on Wednesday, Sept. 11 as they travel to Decatur, Ill., for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference regional match-up against Millikin University.
