Women's Soccer Earns Second Straight Team Pinnacle Award From United Soccer Coaches

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second consecutive year, Webster University Women's Soccer earned the Team Pinnacle Award from the United Soccer Coaches for the 2019-20 school year.

Webster is one three collegiate and four high school programs overall to earn a Team Pinnacle Award for the second consecutive year. The NCAA teams recognized for a second consecutive year in addition to Webster was the Eastern Connecticut State men's team and the SUNY Geneseo women's team. The four high school girls' programs that won for a second straight year were Christ Presbyterian Academy (Nashville, Tenn.), Mt. Vernon High School (Fortville, Ind.), Poly Prep Country Day School (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and South River High School (Edgewater, Md.).

The Team Pinnacle Award, which was first awarded last year, was created by the USC to recognize team for achieving a high level of fair play, educational excellence and success on the soccer field.

After honoring 19 teams in 2018-19, the USC is recognizing 32 teams with a Team Pinnacle Award for the 2019-20 academic year. Nine of the honored teams are from the collegiate ranks, including eight women's programs and one men's program, while the other 23 teams honored are from the high school ranks, including 17 girls programs and six boys programs.

In order to be considered for this award, teams must have received either a Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the High School or College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award; achieved recognition in the clsssroom as a recipient of the High School or College Team Academic Award; and recorded a winning percentage of .750 or higher during the 2019-20 season. 

The 2019-20 Gorlok women's team earned a Bronze level of the College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award; was recognized as a College Team Academic Award winner for the 21st consecutive year and posted a 15-5-1 overall record during the 2019 season.

Webster was one of eight collegiate women's programs and one of nine college teams recognized overall for the Team Pinnacle Award and one of four Division III women's programs selected for this year's honor.
